Could artificial lighting at night be detrimental to our health and well being? I was very surprised from this interview and I have really enjoyed a simple life hack (amber sunglasses worn in the evenings) to counter the effects of artificial lighting we naturally have in our lives. This podcast covers artificial lighting in the evening/night, it’s negative impact on the pineal gland (“the third eye”), on natural melatonin production, on sleep, on overall health, on depression, on cancer curing, on cancer prevention and on body weight.

Daniel Vitalis is awesome And he has very long intros (interview with the physicist Dr. Carome starts at 11:21 for those with limited time).

The physicist Dr. Carome shares that in 2001 it was found that Melatonin is only produced when our brains have a complete/100% break from blue light. We need blue light and/or Sun light during the day but at night it throws off our natural rhythms and our biology in very meaningful ways. Why does this matter? Melatonin is a cancer-fighting antioxidant (it’s one of the strongest ones in your body). There is a meaningful and relevant connection between light and your health.

Even opening your eyes for a moment at night to a night light or illuminated clock will shut off the pineal gland’s natural production. The pineal gland is very serious about whether it thinks the Sun is on or off, easily tricked by our artificial lighting and consequently shutting off melatonin production which is essential to good health.

After listening to this podcast, I ordered a pair of Dr. Carome’s amber glasses to wear from about 8pm until closing my eyes for bed at night. Since wearing them a couple days, I am waking up naturally at 6 am feeling rested and ready for the day – a noticeable upgrade for me. I’m excited to personally investigate any other biological improvements from this simple and easy experiment.

“What about supplements?” you may be thinking. Well, consider that Melatonin supplements cost money, can be of questionable quality and are forced to go through your digestive tract. Comparatively, natural/organic* Melatonin coming from your Pineal gland is doing it’s job very differently, at no cost, and probably much more efficiently and effectively. But, in our modern world, our pineal gland needs our help to do its job. It needs our help because (for very good reasons) humans wanted to extend our day, inventing artificial light that mimics the blue in the Sun even when the Sun has gone down for the day. There are many ways to hack our modern day living, including living off grid, changing out every light bulb in your home every evening at 7pm, becoming the light police in your home and probably others (lol).  I enjoy modern conveniences, do not want to live as we did as cave dwellers, and I have no desire to lock down all the artificial lighting and screens at 7pm each evening.  Hence, I’m going for the amber glasses, allowing my pineal gland to have a solid 11 hours without blue light — so far so good!

Fascinating information in this podcast and I hope you find it informative and beneficial to your life and thriving.

Please keep in heart/mind that in the Separation Age we have been doing many, many things that are actually out of alignment with human health and human thriving. It is not necessary to get angry nor to identify a nefarious force behind this intentional contraction of human consciousness.  Anything can happen when we are forgetting we are Source Creator God. Rather than get pissed, I find it much more empowering to re-store a state of thriving amidst what is, restoring our sovereignty from the inside out. This approach of claiming wellness and taking responsibility for what we can ends up changing the outside/external as we evolve and re-member authentic wellness.  On a related note, I no longer rely on “the experts” in our world to have all the right answers, because they don’t. I don’t need to wait for something to be proven to find out for myself if it works.  Sometimes to make personal progress it takes going against the grain.  And what is the harm in wearing amber glasses in the evening?

Interview is here.

Cheers to your health,
Jill

*no not that kind of organic — real organic, like from your body’s own magnificent processes).
